how fun in city campus

Around our city campus, there is a lot of entertainment which make you feel fun on your student life!
lunar park: 1 Olympic Dr, Milsons Point NSW 2061, only 3.9 km to city campus.

sydney opera house: Bennelong Point: Sydney NSW 2000, 7.6 km to city campus

Why MQC and not North Ryde? (Part 1)

How do you make a decision when it comes to studying in Macquaire City campus or North Ryde?

It doesn't matter if you are an international student or local students, both campuses has their merits. This review is to give an honest opinion of the plus and minuses of each from A STUDENT that has been to both. This review will be broken up into 2 elements, the study and timetable

The Study

The most important thing to know about the the two campuses is the final outcome of the study. Why are we all spending all these money for? (especially international students) To get a degree after all these time and money spending during this period, a degree that will be recognized and accepted by future employees, an environment that will hopefully teach us important life skill and skills that are particular to our studies.

If you didn't know North Ryde(NR), is the "main campus", and of cause it would have more choices when it comes to the choices of degrees and various majors. You will get a larger range of choices when it comes to the degree and classes, meaning you will have more flexibility with timetables(to certain extent, will be discussed later). In city campus you are limited to just several key degrees, for example in my case, they did not offer bachelor of com- accounting, but rather they only offered bachelor of com- professional accounting. So BEFORE you go further maybe perhaps you should look up on their websites, if the degree you desire is included. So back to what we were talking about, the outcome, on paper the degree that you receive from either campuses are the same, you will get the same recognition and acceptance from the outside world. However, what is important is the juice you get from the degree, how much you gain from the experience. Picture this in your head going to a lecture with 500 other students and one with 20-40 students with the same lecturer, which do you think you will get the most benefit from? which one would you get a better interaction from? which one would the lecturer know you by name from? I will leave this for you to decide, but city campus is the one with 20-40 students per lectures.

Time table

It is also important to know that in NR, tutorials and lectures are separated, meaning you will have to select one of each for every class, where as in city campus the two are always together. Having the the two separated is can be a good thing or a curse, in my experience, although it gives me more flexibility when it comes to creating my timetable, it also gave me a lot of headache. As I mentioned earlier there are many students studying the same subject as you, at time exceeding 1000+ students, the tutorials that may suit your lecture times are always taken, so at time you would be stuck in uni just because you have a lecture at 10 in the morning and a tutorial at 6 in the evening. This of cause can be avoided if you are a very proactive students and would not mind spending a lot of time doing this. Another problem with this is that at times your tutorial and lecture time can be separated for a few days, and may lose the continuation that you would get from the city campus. Where as in the city campus you always have the tutorial before or after your lectures, meaning when you are studying 4 courses instead of 8 classes to choose from and you only need to choose 4, that may not seem like much but you are saving yourself from a lot of drama.

Again these are all my personal opinion of why you should study in the city campus, but please haters please do comment on why I am wrong.

ACCG250 (Accounting Systems Design and Development)

This unit aims to introduce students to the accounting issues associated with the business use of information systems. The topics covered in this unit include the key discipline based areas of the role of accounting and accounting information systems, databases, e-business systems, internal controls, business processes, ethics, systems development and information system audit. The material covered in this course is presented through an accounting lens, thus allowing the full benefits of information systems within a practical and relevant context to be drawn out and evidenced to students. This makes the course more than just ‘how to use computers’. Rather, the emphasis is placed on students appreciating the critical role that information systems play in supporting the accounting function, and the need for a critical nexus between the accounting and information systems functions. This unit also provides the foundation for the student’s further studies in the accounting / accounting information systems disciplines. This unit is a key part of the accounting degree. It seeks to develop graduate capabilities centred upon effective communication and higher order analysis and critical thinking using a range of case based materials. The unit assumes a strong understanding of the manual accounting process.

BUSL 301(Corporation Law ) review

This unit introduces students to corporate regulation in Australia and aims to create an awareness of corporate issues. It builds on the material covered in a general business law unit. Areas covered include: company formation; the legal status of a company; duties of directors; rights of members; and approaches to corporate insolvency. Assessment comprises tutorial participation, a short test, a mid-semester examination and a final examination. In this unit students gain an understanding of, and an interest in, corporate regulation, the role of companies and current corporate issues. The outcomes achieved assist in the development of critical thinking, problem solving, effective communication and adept professional judgement. The contents of and the issues raised in the unit, are of benefit to all students and particularly to those intending to enter commercial practice in accountancy or similar professions.

some tips: when you study this subject, do not only focus on the case study book, as this book is not comprehensive enough in terms of illustrating cases compared with the big book. some cases may be lack of the whole environment, making students confusing.

secondly, this subject do not allow you to take the pink sheet, so it is really important for you to memory correctly the section number and the case name.

ACCG224----- Intermediate Financial Accounting
This unit aims to provide students with an intermediate level of coverage of the principles relating to financial accounting. The unit builds on ACCG100 Accounting IA and ACCG101 Accounting IB, exploring financial accounting issues in greater depth. Topics include conceptual foundations of accounting, creative accounting, measurement of assets and liabilities and corporate collapses.
